한국어
A box and bottle of Glen Garioch 15 Year Old Sherry Cask next to a Glencairn glass of whisky on a table

This is a record of a bottle the site operator bought and tasted personally. Aroma and flavour notes reflect one person's senses and preferences, and the same whisky can taste different depending on the batch, how long the bottle has been open, the glass and the setting. The score is the operator's own on a 100-point scale.

The basics

A Glen Garioch 15 Year Old box and bottle on a living-room table with an amber dram in a Glencairn glass

Nose

Dark chocolate, leather, sherry, dried fruit, a damp cellar, wet wood

Palate

Coffee, dark chocolate, dried fruit, spice, brown sugar

Finish

Sweet and woody, of medium length

Impressions

A thick, dense, full-sherry style that the 53.7% strength helps deliver. It feels different from the bright, floral sherry style of Macallan, yet it is not an overly sticky sherry bomb either. Dark chocolate comes through first, followed pleasantly by dried fruit and sherry. Against such a dense nose, the finish felt a little short, which was a pity.

Score

86 / 100
