The number is the age of the youngest whisky
The age stated on a Scotch whisky label is the maturation period of the youngest whisky in the bottle. Even if 12-year-old whisky is combined with 18-year-old whisky, the stated age is 12 years. Time spent in the glass bottle after bottling does not add to the age.
Changes that occur when aged for a long time
More time in contact with oak can increase cask impressions such as vanilla, spice, nuts and tannins. At the same time, the fruit/grain character of the distilled liquor may be weakened, or excessive woody taste and dryness may occur. Maturation speed varies depending on cask size and history, warehouse location, temperature and humidity.

How is it different in the game?
The Maker Game assigns cost and quality expectations to aging choices ranging from 3 to 30 years. However, cask/malt/batch differences and top score compression are maintained to ensure that high maturity does not automatically result in the highest score. This is a model that reduces the complexity of reality into playable rules.
